Rudolf Eb.er, a Swiss musician living in Osaka, started off working in the industrial tape scene. Humpa. Zerkörpert is the latest outcome of his highly unique and elaborate style of miniature cut-up works, consisting of sliced up sounds of physical and bodily actions. Particularly convincing is Eb.er’s dramatic use of action and silence within the context of what are at times absurd-sounding and cartoonesque arrangements that are nevertheless specific and clear in their presentation. Collage works of Eb.er’s such as Humpa. Zerkörpert, as well as his self-described “live actions,” for all of their conceptuality, consistently embody a refreshing sense of having been produced in real-time.
