On Nymphomatriarch, musicians Aaron Funk (Venetian Snares) and partner Rachael Kozak (Hecate) captured the sounds of their privately recorded debaucharies while on tour in Europe and Canada. Interviewed for an article on new concrete-sound based electronic records in the Manchester Guardian, Funk summarizes his first sense of the musical value of his recordings: "I remember thinking, 'That slap will make a good snare drum'”. Based on samples derived from the sounds of Funk and Kozak engaging in anal and oral sex, bondage, caning, spanking and microphone insertion on MiniDisc, the resultant gulps and gasps, groans and slaps, were subsequently crafted into into a cutting edge collection of drill and bass-driven breakcore and ambient atmospherics.
