HONORARY MENTION
Pinka
Kaori Saito

Pinka is a series of images originally made for Fuji Television's commercial films. It is based on a legend which says "One who sees a dolphin colored in pink becomes happy."The character of Pinka itself was designed by Yoshitaka Amano and the computer generated images were made by Links Corporation. Pinka, a dolphin, had been always unhappy, because only he is colored in pink. But one day he meets a hermit crab and ventures out into a dream land (where it is believed that every dream comes true). During this adventure, he meets with various fellows who have their own complexes. He tries to free them from these complexes, and then they become happy.

The message for the audience is to point out how important it is to find many opportunities to meet with friends, and how experiences like this help a person discover his own merits. We intended to make a pop, simple, and lovely character which would be widely recognized and loved.
Each story is complete in each 15-second commercial film, and the story continues just like a comic in a picture book.
We put a lot of thought into how to express our message in each 15 seconds, and how to describe the unique characters effectively. The world we intended to describe is just like the stage of a puppet show, which is shot by only one camera.
