HONORARY MENTION
Pfffirate
Xavier André, Guillaume Herent

Pfffirate is a short made by two students, Xavier André and Guillaume Herent, in only nine months, from the first story outline to the final short. It was made in 3Dsmax, and rendered in Vray.

The original story was about a sailor adrift at sea with his rubber ring. He became a pirate aboard an inflatable life-boat, and then an inflatable pirate. And what could be a danger to an inflatable toy? Something sharp, metallic, something that doesn´t belong in this inflatable universe. So, something in the air: a bird. A mechanical toy, to keep it in the amusing spirit of a toy universe.

The work on the short was divided according to what each of us preferred to do: one would do more animation, while the other would work more on the textures, for example. The editing was done together. And we found it very important to keep in touch constantly with people who were not involved in the project, to have an outside opinion, and to find out what was too hard to understand, too complicated, what had to be simplified so that verybody could understand the story and, hopefully, enjoy it.
