Sarah has been drawing pictures on the computer since she was three. Because she can’t read or write yet, her mother showed her how to start and use “Pixia”, a drawing programme, on the laptop. First she tried out different thicknesses of colour and brushes, and the drawings happened more by coincidence or by experimenting around. Over time she learned how to consciously use the colours, thicknesses of the brushes and other effects.

She made the series of drawings ichSelbst in 2005—as an entry for u19.

When asked why she draws on the computer, the five-year-old answered: “The computer is the better sheet for drawing.”
