DISTINCTION
Wunderwelt Candy CAVE
Julius Paul Lugmayr

I love candy, light, color and creative software. At school and in my spare time, I’ve been able to get some experience with lighting and sound engineering at small theater performances.

All this gave me the idea to design something completely new with candy, light, color and sound using my computer, a video camera, a small 12-volt beamer and a bit of building.

My project is a software-controlled light sculpture. It resembles a glowing, constantly changing planet of candy. A white glass globe which you can view from the inside is lit up by a movie made especially for it and which is projected by two small 12-volt beamers. The two projectors produce moving pictures all around the globe. They are controlled by a storage device which also provides the sound. The globe hangs on a thin, transparent plastic string, which makes it look like it is floating in the air. Seen from the outside, it is a constantly changing light sculpture covered with frameless images; from the inside, it is a candy cave, my 360-degree wonderland.
