HONORARY MENTION
Donaufischer.at
Gabriel Freinbichler
As an avid fisher, I wanted to look up information about my lovely hobby online. But because I didn’t find any Internet pages that I liked straight off, I started thinking about constructing my own web site. While searching I saw lots of pages that had been designed with PostNuke-CMS (www.pn-cms.de), so I decided to use it, too—especially because it has a strong German support community. This is when I launched Donaufischer.at. It wasn’t long till I realized the advantages of the Pagesetter module developed by Jørn Wildt (www.elfisk.dk). With Pagesetter I put together all the information about fish, descriptions of rivers and lakes, news, a collection of fishing rigs and a fish dictionary. Pagesetter makes it easy and quick for webmasters to put together the contents of their websites. To make it easier to get going, it also includes predefined templates. At Donaufischer.at, only the news is taken from other sources, I developed and made all the other templates myself. At the moment I am planning to add a database with tips & tricks, as well as a catch log and a blog.
After a year of construction, the site took off in March 2005—at present Donaufischer.at has about 3000 hits a day and 141 registered users (last updated: March 13, 2006).
