HONORARY MENTION
Jedi Training
Lorenz Hammel, Max Hammel
To tell the truth, we made the film Jedi Training because we were bored during our 2005 summer holidays. At the time everyone was crazy about Star Wars and hoped to discover that they had “the Force”, like Anakin Skywalker or his mentor Obi Wan Kenobi. With our film we wanted to show what a Jedi would do in every day life. To begin with we didn’t have any concrete ideas about what would happen during the film. Spontaneously my brother and I just incorporated all sorts of objects we found while shooting (e.g., the knife we’d just used to divide up a pizza).
Together we collected the sounds and the programs we needed, and then, in a strenuous effort, built them into the film. It took an entire rainy weekend to shoot and edit it. At the time, the idea of entering a competition didn’t even enter our minds. It was just about the fun of shooting a film and the outcome.
