HONORARY MENTION
A Beautiful Lie
Chucky Fuchs, Nina Kutschera

To begin with, I (Chucky) was the one who enrolled in the elective film class at my school, the Amerlinggymnasium, but then, after about two months of theory, Nina joined the class to help with the film. From then on, we were a team. Our idea to make the characters look like they finally did came from "blobs", which are easy to find on the internet. We both liked these characters a lot, but of course we couldn't use the exact same ones. That's why we made their bodies larger and gave their eyes pupils. In addition, we gave them other colors than they'd originally had, and other hairstyles and clothes. And, right, very important: legs! The characters themselves are based on Matthias, on a good friend of ours, and on me. The janitor in the final credits derives from Janitor, a character from "Scrubs".

As far as the work itself goes, I'd like to mention that we used a whole tube of glue and about a kilo of colored paper to make the figures and the "scenery". For the most part, shooting the film was really fun, but in the end we were too pressed for time. We'd forgotten we couldn't play WMV files on the Mac at school and so we played only one of the original five songs we'd planned to play. We chose the title "A Beautiful Lie", because we'd originally wanted to use the song of the same name by the group "30 Seconds to Mars" for the final credits. But unfortunately it was in WMV format too…
