HONORARY MENTION
Plume
Cécile Gonard
Plume is a short animated film that draws its inspiration from the collection of poems, Plume, by Henri Michaux.Without taking any narrative principles into consideration, I have taken excerpts from poems and interpreted them graphically in a very personal way.
A poetic universe is created, based on elements related to writing and what is written—books, pages, pens, lines, words. Here the monitor may be seen as both a page and a theater stage, where persons come and go, taking a walk and meeting each other in the most absurd situations. The sound element increases a sense of alienation and a feeling of displacement, which is already present in the image, without falling into redundancy and synchronism. Technically the film attempts to coherently unite 2D and 3D animations.
