HONORARY MENTION
Ultima Forsan
William Le Henanff
This project was my graduation project for my Master of Arts at the National Center of Comics and Image. Over the course of five months,m y work consisted of doing the scriptwriting, story-board and production. The original music is by David Georgelin, student at the Louis Lumière cinema school, Paris.
The story takes place during the Second World War, in 1942, above the town of Lorient. The encounter is between a pilot of the Royal Air Force and the captain of a submarine. During the night a submarine comes back home after a long journey. A group of Lancasters must destroy this submarine base of the underground bunkers of Keroman.
I wanted to show these two army corps, more exposed during the Second World War, each one with its toy, as in the dreams of child.
The greatest difficulties were the creation of the different environments (air/sea) and representing the atmosphere of a bombardment (inside the airplane).
I worked a lot with lighting and used the sun of an environment shader to do explosions.
(Ultima Forsan translates as “may be the last ... hour”)
