Ars Electronica Highlights (September, 6)
“L’Espace Temporel”—this grand concert evening will open up passages between contemporary music and soundart linked with visuals and digital real-time graphics.

In and around the Brucknerhaus and Lentos, the audience will be confronted with tonal spaces and time windows at the nexus of orchestral music, digital sound synthesis, live electronics and remix. In six passages, works by Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Christian Fennesz, Ludger Brümmer, György Ligeti, Krzysztof Penderecki and Peter Eötvös will be performed and visualized.

The “Re-inventing Radio Symposium” from 3 – 6 PM in the Brucknerhaus will deal with the history and current state of artistic communications projects. It is, first and foremost, radio art—represented at Ars Electronica by the many projects produced since 1987 by the Austrian Broadcasting Company’s Kunstradio—that is widely considered an important role model. In this context, radio art is understood as an artform that deals critically with the medium and the changes it has been undergoing—and particularly those that have resulted from the pressure of digitization.
