An Honorable Mention in the Adolf Loos Prize competition’s Experimental Design category has been awarded to the Ars Electronica Futurelab and designer Scott Ritter for their “Future Office Table".

The winners of the 2003 Adolf Loos State Prize for Design were announced at an awards ceremony held Monday, October 6, 2003 at the Adolf Loos House.

The Adolf Loos Prize competition’s international jury awarded an Honorable Mention in the Experimental Design category to the “Future Office Table” project submitted by the Ars Electronica Futurelab and Scott Ritter.

The “Future Office Table” is part of a multi-phase research project focusing primarily on integrating currently available technologies into scenarios that display ergonomic excellence and superb design. In going about this, engineers have been investigating the suitability of conventional concepts and visions, and objects and furniture have been custom-designed expressly for the purpose of this evaluation. Several of these prototypes are now on display at the Ars Electronica Center in order to provide visitors with a demonstration of current possibilities.
