CityCar, RoboScooter, and GreenWheel
Smart Cities Group
The models in this exhibit represent recent work from the Smart Cities group. All were produced by creating 3D digital models and then using deposition printers to generate physical models.
Several of the models are of lightweight intelligent electric vehicles – the CityCar developed in collaboration with General Motors, the RoboScooter developed in collaboration with SYM and ITRI, and the GreenWheel electric-assist bicycle. These vehicles are clean, green, and energy-efficient, and they enable new kinds of urban personal mobility systems.
Working models of mechanical devices no longer need to be printed as separate components and then assembled. Using the latest deposition printers, as Peter Schmitt’s fully functional printed clock illustrates, they can now be printed in their entirety.
