Ars Electronica (AT)
SAT September 6, 2014, 11 AM - 1 PM
Ars Electronica Center, Sky Loft
Device Art deploys novel materials and techniques to create high-tech appliances featuring sophisticated, cool design. The objects’ inherent convergence of technology, art and design calls into questions conventional paradigms operational in the art world.
Parallel Currents
Even if the device art movement originated in Japan, closely related art & design practices have emerged totally independently since 2004 in Croatia and Slovenia as well as in the USA.
The symposium accompanying the Device Art exhibition at the Ars Electronica Center offers curators and artists from Japan, Croatia and the USA an opportunity to compare and contrast the respective currents.
