Main IndexLIFESCIENCE: Some Formal Questions
--------------------------------------------------------- ARS ELECTRONICA FESTIVAL 99 LIFESCIENCE Linz, Austria, September 04 - 09 http://www.aec.at/lifescience --------------------------------------------------------- Is it possible for Artists to concider the possibility that "Thinking" might be (or involve) some form of "Formal" system? That "visual Art" might be (or involve) some form of "visual Thinking" -and therefore also some kind of "Formal" system. That by rejecting "Formality" -"Art" and "Culture" force themselves to remain on the level of an incoherent babble from frustrated (and retarded) children. Can there be intelligent dialogue without "causality"? What value has "emotion" if there is no cause? While Scientists appear to progress through the invention and interpretation of relationships (between and within the universa), Artists risk suffocating themselves (and others) by indulging in either meaningless absolutism or pointless relativism.
