re: Elimination of the term "catastrophe" as desired by the Marshall of the Reich
In the context of air raids and the removal of the aftermath of air raids the term "catastrophe" has established itself also for the special missions of the Wehrmacht and party formations. Vehicles developed and used for relief measures also have been carrying a plate marked "Katastropheneinsatz" – "Catastrophe mission".
The Minister of Information and Propaganda in his capacity as Chairman of the Interministerial Board on Air Raid Damages has requested necessary action towards expurging the term "catastrophe" from all organizational plans, ordinances, orders and overall usage as it has undesired psychological and political implications and effects. He recommends replacing the term "catastrophe action" uniformly by the term "immediate aid". Having brought the above to your notice I request necessary action to be instituted.
