About The House

'Michael Morris Michael Morris / 'Vincent Trasov Vincent Trasov

Michael Morris and Vincent Trasov, working and living in Berlin since 1981, were active in the development of performance and video art in Vancouver, Canada during the late sixties and seventies. Since moving to Berlin their video, performance and video/performance pieces have been seen in Europe in West Germany, Belgium, France, England, Spain, Austria and Italy.

"About The House" is an example of the interdisciplinary and collaborative context in which the two artists have been working and is the most sustained work for the stage they have yet produced. The roots of their performance is akin to the stage and theater of Dadaist, Bauhaus and Fluxus movements and while it involves personal history and personal mythology, it is not narrative. Any interpretation is left to the individual spectator. Things of daily life are used in reference to the imagination without giving an answer to anything. Spoken dialogue is minimal, although one can hear Russian, French, German and English in the sound mix.

"About The House" includes live voice, piano, recorded sound, prepared video, closed circuit video, lighting effects slides and simple props.

The "musikalisches Bild" has become a genre for artistic composition of the eighties.
