HONORARY MENTION
Pseudo-Rekursiv 2
Mogens Jacobsen

In the past two years I've done a lot of 3D works based on ideas from the fractal heritage. The images are not fractal images, but my working-method emulates concepts from fractals.
I start with some basic Euclidean geometrical model. I apply some sort of distortion to this object, skewing, bending or a combination of rotation and non-proportional scaling. The model becomes complex organic, loses any similarity to the simple geometric start-object. Normally I use previous versions of the image as texture-mappings, bump-mappings and transparency-mappings - the surface-properties of the object are based on simpler images of the same object, a sort of surf ace self-similarity. The work was done on an 80386/387 Personal Computer. The modelling- and rendering-software was Autodesk 3D Studio version 1.1- a commercial software package, directly off the shelf.
