HONORARY MENTION
AUDI Telematic
Cornelia Unger

The task that was posed for the Telematic film was to design a vision for the future based on Audi's existing navigational system. It was to illustrate the further developments of this system and how it could be used.

The starting point for the concept was the question of which functions a navigation and service system of the future could have. Situations that a driver might experience were described with three fictive examples.
In this case, the three monitors of the trade fair installation stand for the three elementary levels of the telematic system:
The monitor on the right symbolizes the connection to the outside, for example Internet access. The monitor on the left visualizes data processing and the evaluation of information. The center monitor represents communication between the driver and the telematic system. These functions are represented abstractly by the silhouette of a woman, played by a mime. This silhouette is linked with the rubber-like surface via the hands and is thus able to soak up information, so to speak. This results in associations with a data glove that collects, processes and passes on virtual data. The work is intended to be reminiscent of a dance.
In conjunction with thetelematictask, thefilm addresses a vision of future communication and net-working.The tangible and intuitively comprehensible representation conveys the feeling that this system can do everything for the user. Yet elements that inspire critical reflection are also purposely integrated. They are intended to contrast a vision of the future that is all too euphoric with doubts, for instance those involving data protection and individual freedom of movement and decision.
