Errorsmith Ep #12

My work as a producer is focused on designing and playing instruments. I see an instrument as the entirety of audio-components, such as signal generators (including sequencers), signal modifiers, mixers, effects, etc. Playing to me is changing the parameters of these components in real time.

Most tracks on the errorsmith EP #1 are recordings of these kinds of real-time manipulations.There is hardly any editing or overdubs.
With errorsmith EP #1 I worked exclusively with the software “Generator”for the first time. It is a modular real-time synthesizer which contains the basic modules of synthesis like oscillators, filters, delays etc. These are the elements which allow me to build instruments.
This software provides a lot of advantages and new possibilities for my work. I can try out technical ideas quite quickly. I can develop complete new instruments, like a reverse tool for instance, which can play everything that has just been heard backwards in real time by pushing a button (audible on all tracks except the first three on side b).
The instancy with which the instrument can be changed allows me to not only change the parameters, but also the structure of the instrument itself. The development of a piece is therefore closely related to the development of an instrument.
