"Runners" by Kazuma Morino is appealing in its use of repetitive elements in an abstract choreography that plays with rhythm, space and motion. This is not only a formalist essay, it also provides a more Sisyphus point of view of the computer graphic world.
Figures (dolls) made up of geometric shapes rush around, intertwining with other objects. The work expresses the beauty of interacting objects over the course of time.
A beautiful figure is created when a man runs. This is something I have been thinking about for a number of years. From the beginning, it was the figure of running which captivated my attention. It seemed to me that the chessboard pattern would make people more conscious of the beauty of the movement itself. Of course, there are various figures of movement, such the figure of a man swimming, of a man jumping, of someone climbing stairs, but I wanted to come as close as possible to one such figure, emphasizing and expressing it: hence the work Runners.
As I thought about what to use as the first step, it seemed that a simple object would best constitute a man’s form.
With my other work, which consisted of objects such as "Cube", "Sphere" and "Pipe" etc., this kind of feature has been well able to convey the wonderfulness of a spread of beauty in a combination, because of its abstractness, resulting in an expression of power and an infinite image. The expression seems to produce the density of the act of running. The next step was the animation. As the method of expression, a loop of the running figure was created. This is intended to give the viewer a strong impression of the running figure.
Although the overall tone is harmonious, I decided that, yes, it should finish in a contrasting world. Since it seemed that patterns, such as a stripe, would be stuck on an object, the finish was chosen as a way to highlight the pattern. In a rendering, it is merely satisfactory - high - since the contrasting picture did not emerge. Finally, the image was made from the filter work (2-dimensional processing). This resembles carefully performing color adjustment and corrections and finishing it in the development of the film, which was entirely photographed with a camera. The work is determined by this final filter work, and so it seems to me that it does not belong to an individual author.
And if the finished work is able to convey the beauty of running with the force of an object entwined in the composition, then I hope that Runners will be imprinted in the viewer’s heart. |
