Bob Sabiston on the Computer Animation / Visual Effects Jury
Bob Sabiston (USA) is an old friend of Prix Ars Electronica: Has been awarded four prizes at the competition. This year is his first time as member of the jury. Bob Sabiston's first award at Prix Ars Electronica was a Honorary Mention for "Grinning Evil Death", a science fiction story about super heroes, breakfast and cockroaches. In 1995 he won a Distinction for "God's Little Monkey", the first section of an independent animated film about an angry girl living in a mechanized world. "Snack and Drink" (Distinction, 1999) is an animated documentary starring Ryan Power, an autistic teenager in Austin, Texas. His last award was a Honorary Mention for Richard Linklater's cutting edge animated film "Waking Life". This funny, ingenious film explores the fascinating question: "Are we sleep walking through our waking state or wake- walking through our dreams?" Bob Sabiston who runs Flat Black Films, an animation company dedicated to producing independent short films, is a programmer/artist: In addition to doing a lot of the drawing, Bob writes all of the software used in Flat Black Film's projects. Most recently he and his team of animators have completed a short film segment for the Lars von Trier/Jorgen Leth film "The Five Obstructions". more | ||||||||||
