This morning's paper brings the news that the famed American
scientist Carl Sagan used marijuana as a mind tool for
formulating his scientific models of the universe. This fact puts the US
government in the embarassing position of blocking the progress of American
science by making certain scientific instruments illegal--makes as much
sense as the Church deciding to outlaw telescopes in the wake of Galileo's
discovery of the moons of Jupiter. The times they are still medieval.
