The user moves a stylus along the streets of a city map and, while doing so, hears the ambient sounds of the particular location. The image of a city takes shape as a result of its specific, localized soundscape.
Iori Nakai (J), born 1980, became interested in digital music in 1996 and bought a synthesizer. In 1999 he entered the Institute of Advanced Media Art and Sciences (IAMAS), and came face to face with a place for artistic expression using electronic equipment. He did collaborative projects with many artists, and through working with others developed the ability of self-expression. In 2000 he debuted with Streetscape as his first work.  back
