With its specifc orientation and the long-term continuity it has displayed since its inception in 1979, Ars Electronica is an internationally unique platform for digital art and media culture. It consists of four divisions: an avant-garde festival, a competition honoring outstanding work being done throughout this feld, a museum carrying out an educational mission, and a media art lab that makes artistic competence available for R&D and industrial applications.
 
2009 Has Been a Very Successful Year for Ars Electronica
The reopening of the Ars Electronica Center in a spacious new facility showcasing fascinating new content, the 80+1 – A JOURNEY AROUND THE WORLD project that ran for almost three months in conjunction with Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture, the 30th anniversary celebration and an attendance-record-setting festival were a few highlights of a year full of superlatives.

(Linz, March 18, 2010) Ars Electronica is present at two of Festival de Mexico’s prime venues: the Laboratorio Arte Alameda, a former church that now provides an extraordinary setting for digital art, and the recently renovated Centro Cultural de España.
