CHECKLIST

Please be certain that you have read the General Entry Regulations.

Use the online registration form at prixars.aec.at. There you can input all the information necessary to submit your project, as well upload any accompanying digital material. After completing the registration, please print out a hardcopy of the online form, sign the form, and submit it along with any additional (hardcopy) material needed to support your entry by mail (postmarked no later than March 6, 2009) to:

IMPORTANT NOTE – Special Deadline applies to the Media.Art.Research Award: February 20, 2009

If your entry is awarded a prize or receives a Honorary Mention, your material will be used for the catalog, DVD, CD and the Prix Ars Electronica website (see General Entry Regulations), so we ask you to prepare your picture and text material carefully. The catalog, DVD and CD will be released in conjunction with the Ars Electronica Festival 2009.

COMPUTER ANIMATION / FILM / VFX

Online Submission – Upload:

  • detailed description of the work
  • a portrait photo of the author and graphics files describing the project in the following formats: TIFF, EPS, BMP, JPG, GIF(JPG and EPS only at maximum quality).

Mailing/Fax (Deadline March 6, 2009):

  • jury version on Mini-DV or DVD, including specification of the necessary codecs, plug-ins and formats (such as PAL, NTSC)
  • signed hardcopy of the entry form
  • optional: additional material (stills/synopsis/ …)

INTERACTIVE ART

Online Submission – Upload:

  • detailed description of the artistic concept and technical realization
  • a portrait photo of the author and graphics files describing the project in the following formats: TIFF, EPS, BMP, JPG, GIF (JPG and EPS only at maximum quality).
  • biography of the author(s)

Mailing/Fax (Deadline March 6, 2009):

  • video documentation (approx. 3 min.) on VHS, S-VHS, Mini-DV or DVD (PAL/NTSC)
  • signed hardcopy of the entry form
  • optional: additional material (images/documents/drawings)

DIGITAL MUSICS

Online Submission – Upload:

  • detailed description of the work (concept and content)
  • 2-3 minute excerpt in one of the following formats: wav,mp3,aif,mov,ogg ...
  • a portrait photo of the author and graphics files describing the project in the following formats: TIFF, EPS, BMP, JPG, GIF(JPG and EPS only at maximum quality).
  • biography of the author(s)

Mailing/Fax (Deadline March 6, 2009):

  • jury version on Audio-CD, DAT, DVD Audio or DVD Video including specification of the necessary codecs, plug-ins and formats (such as PAL, NTSC)
  • signed hardcopy of the entry form
  • optional: additional material (images/drawings/score/documents/ …)

HYBRID ART

Online Submission – Upload:

  • detailed description of the work (concept and content)
  • URL
  • a portrait photo of the author and graphics files describing the project in the following formats: TIFF, EPS, BMP, JPG, GIF (JPG and EPS only at maximum quality).
  • biography of the author(s)

DIGITAL COMMUNITIES

Online Submission – Upload:

  • detailed description of the work (concept and content)
  • supporting information and resources (in the case of texts, the complete, unabridged version of the text; scientific, scholarly or theoretical texts about the project; media coverage and reviews) as well as illustrations
  • a portrait photo of the author and graphics files describing the project in the following formats: TIFF, EPS, BMP, JPG, GIF (JPG and EPS only at maximum quality).
  • biography of the person submitting the entry

Mailing/Fax (Deadline March 6, 2009):

  • signed hardcopy of the entry form

[THE NEXT IDEA] ART AND TECHNOLOGY GRANT

Online Submission – Upload:

  • a description of the concept and its realization in detail (production plan including hardware and software requirements)
  • a list of tasks including notation specifying which tasks are to be completed by the grant recipient and which require support from the Ars Electronica Futurelab’s staff)
  • a brief summary of the concept
  • materials on a website: correct URL and details for viewing
  • printing materials: pdf or rtf
  • a portrait photo of the author and graphics files describing the project in the following formats: TIFF, EPS, BMP, JPG, GIF (JPG and EPS only at maximum quality).
  • biography of the author(s)

Mailing/Fax (Deadline March 6, 2009):

  • video documentation (ca. 3 minutes): on Mini-DV, CD-ROM or DVD (PAL/NTSC), images, documents, drawings
  • signed hardcopy of the entry form

MEDIA.ART.RESEARCH AWARD

Online Submission – Upload:

  • abstract in English (maximum 4,000 characters; optional: abstract in German)
  • Long version of the text (German or English)
  • biography of the entrant/s
  • a portrait photo of the entrant/s and graphic material illustrating the submitted text in the following formats: : TIFF, EPS, BMP, JPG, GIF (JPG and EPS only at maximum quality).

Mailing/Fax (Deadline February 20, 2009):

  • Long version of the text (German or English)
