Net Vision / Net Excellence at Prix Ars Electronica

The Internet as established part of our everyday lives, and as powerful motor of innovation: The net category of Prix Ars Electronica wants to honor both of these aspects.

In order to open the competition category to the full spectrum of current development on the net, the net category has been splitted last year into to different categories: NET VISION distinguishes projects that are striking in their anticipative and innovative way of dealing with the online medium. NET EXCELLENCE distinguishes projects that are convincing because of the originality of their content and creative use of state-of-the-art applications.

The jury – Steve Rogers (BBC New Media, UK), Bruno Beusch and Tina Cassani (TNC Network, F), Ed Burton (Soda Creative, USA), Yukiko Shikata (J) and Joshua Davis (USA) - is looking forward to milestones, next-level experiments and smart hacks that set fresh signals in Arts & Culture, Politics & Society, Media & Entertainment and Science & Technology.

The prize money of the category Net Vision / Net Excellence amounts to EUR 20,000. The Golden Nica will be awarded EUR 10,000, the two Awards of Distinction EUR 5,000 each.

End of the online registration is March 20, 2003.
