Space scientist and astronomer. Previous Director of the NASA EUVE Observatory at the University of California, Berkeley and of the Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille CNRS. Chairman of the Board of Leonardo/International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology.

Chairman and CEO of the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe, Germany. Cinema experiments since the late ‘60s, works for television and video installations, computer-based interactive installations in the ‘80s, net-based projects since the mid-´90s. Author and lecturer on visual media.

Chairman of EDventure Holdings, which publishes the technology-industry newsletter Release 1.0. Writes a column for the New York Times and has just startet the blog Release 4.0.

Egyptian architect and planner. Director of the Library of Alexandria. Vice president of the World Bank in Washington, DC, responsible for the Department for Environmentally Sustainable Development and for programs dealing with poverty and socio-economic development.
