The new Ars Electronica Center opened on January 2, 2009 at 11 AM.

Actually: was switched on. Since, just like an operating system, the new Ars Electronica Center defines itself first and foremost as a gateway, as infrastructure for an active, creative encounter with issues of great current relevance.
