Prix 2008: Facts & Figures
The Prix Ars Electronica once again elicited a tremendous international response in 2008. A total of 4,056 participants from 62 countries entered the competition.
Among the classic categories—Computer Animation/Film/VFX, Digital Communities, Digital Musics, Interactive Art and Hybrid Art—Computer Animation drew the most entries with 586 submitted projects, barely edging out Digital Musics with 580. There were 75 theoretical works vying for the Media.Art.Research Award.
u19 – freestyle computing, Austria's largest computer competition for young people, proved its popularity once again this year by attracting 830 project submissions. Entrants represented all nine Austrian provinces; leading the way were Vienna and Upper Austria. Female participants slightly outnumbered their male colleagues 594 to 567.
