Werner Dedl (AT), Volker Weihbold (AT)
Upper Austrian photographers Werner Dedl and Volker Weihbold did a lot of traveling while the flow of refugees was at its peak—to train stations, temporary quarters and meet&greet events, and to Jordan near the epicenter of the crisis. They photographed people who had just made it through the perilous ordeal of fleeing to Europe, exhausted but relieved, and were seeking some semblance of normality in schools in refugee camps; and others who were giving of themselves and their time, day and night, at train stations to provide the basics for people in transit. These images manifest a truth beyond the often-polemical public debates. They show the individuals and they show the collective everyday life of thousands of people in Upper Austria. In early October, the exhibits will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to a good cause. Details at anschober.at
