Prix Ars Electronica

The 21st edition of the Prix Ars Electronica features some notable innovations. A separate category for hybrid art, a new prize for media art research and the merger of Net Vision into Digital Communities are the most visible signs of the intensive work that has gone into the definition of the competition’s categories. The aim: to keep the Prix in sync with current developments in the dynamic field of cyberarts. The impressive response: 3,374 entries from63 countries.
Eight juries composed of internationally renowned experts convened to select the winners of six Golden Nicas, 14 Awards of Distinction and 74 Honorary Mentions, as well as the recipients of [the next idea] Art and Technology Grant and the Media.Art.Research Award. These honors alongwith prize money totaling 122,500 euros will be presented to the winners  at the Ars Electronica Gala.
