Fallen Fruit
04.09. - 09.09. | 10:00 - 21:00
Pfarrplatz
Fallen Fruit is an artists’ collaboration that investigates urban space, ideas of neighbourhood and new forms of located citizenship and community. All of these interrogations are done through the lens of fruit, which interests us for its simplicity, cultural and social value, and its persistence over centuries of representational art. Fruit is democratic, trans-cultural and valued across all social classes.
By mapping the city of Linz for what the artists call “Public Fruit” – the fruit trees growing on or over public property, they ask playful and provocative questions about those who have resources and those who do not, to examine nature in the city, and to investigate new, shared forms of land use and property. Visitors are invited to take part in a Public Fruit Jam in which they can bring homegrown or public fruit and join in communal jam-making. At the Ars Electronica Festival the artists will create a Public Fruit Map and lead visitors on a Nocturnal Fruit Forages through the town. At Pfarrplatz 6 images will be displayed and Double Standard, a recent video, will have its premiere.
