For do-it-yourselfers, we’re making available á la Open Source a basic package that you can/should expand and customize in accordance with your own personal needs and expectations. Fallen Fruit »

Fallen Fruit is an artists’ collaboration that investigates urban space, ideas of neighbourhood and new forms of located citizenship and community. All of these interrogations are done through the lens of fruit, which interests us for its simplicity, cultural and social value, and its persistence over centuries of representational art. Fruit is democratic, trans-cultural and valued across all social classes.

Keitai Trail! Mobile Video Workshop by "Media Exprimo" »

In this workshop, we collect “keitai” (mobile phone) video clips from participants, and make collaborative slide shows on screens. There is “keitai video shooting” team wearing Japanese traditional clothes may ask you to be video-shooted! This workshop aims to connect general people and media artists not only around Ars Electronica but also in the city of Linz.

What is and how does interaction really look like? The concept of spatial orientation is based on the spatial planes and axes and on the directions that we see as left, right, etc. The perception of a blind person meanwhile brings up the synthesis of distal and proximal perception. The link becomes especially significant when the blind person navigates with something as distant as a satellite – or something navigates him (?).

The "International Networking System for Unified Long-distance Advanced Radio" was conceived in 1999 as a worldwide open and decentralized radio network for the transfer of secure data in the high frequency range (1 MHz - 30 MHz) using digital HF communication. A stable communication flow is ensured through the use of the PACTOR 3 protocol and the existence of an autonomous infrastructure aimed at making users independent from the existing proprietary telecommunication infrastructure.

An under-graduate course and a full post-gradual programme for video and new media studies was launched at the academy in 1988. They include with the conceptualisation of theoretical foundations as well as the planning of production procedures and the invention of interfaces for interactive real time communication. The works are the result of a successful model of networking and the inter-connection of arts and sciences.

Robot Rabbit »

Robot Rabbit is an automatic installation that opposes the inflexible rhythm of the machine to the biological growth of the live grass. Modified toy rabbit stands on a mini-patch of real live grass. The rabbit repeats continuously the words 'robot, rabbit' at a rate of 1 word/second. A mechanical counter is incremented at each word. The growing grass is automatically watered by an electric pump when the humidity level gets low.

Paul Granjon, is a visual artist working with electronics, robotics, video and programming. He applies a playful, hands-on approach to the production of machines for his humorous performances, dealing with the co-evolution of humans and machines.
Washer, whose musical spectrum ranges from humorous, slightly cartoonish hardcore electronics to relatively straight, danceable sets all the way to dark broken beat landscapes rich in bass.
DJ Klub rounds out the evening with soul, roots, hip hop and dirty beats from the record collection.
