This workshop introduces ways of making and controlling transformable to explore the emerging relationship between human and future materials.
A pneumatic control toolkit for designing soft transformable objects will be presented. The toolkit includes an arduino-based programming board, a set of pneumatic circuit, and a series of pneumatic actuators. In the workshop, we will share with the participants how to program the board to control the airflow and pressure; how to design different pneumatic circuit to achieve air logic (AND, OR, NOT gates); how to design and fabricate airbag structures to realize a specific shape transformation; and how to combine sensing elements to create interactive experiences.
