OVERTURES - environmental office. environmental information. environmental monitoring. environmental control.
Overtures, a series of projects launched in the year 2000, deals with a complex of issues having to do with water. From its very inception, this has been designed to entail close cooperation among artists, curators, technologists, scientists, economists and media experts.
The artists will be collaborating with their respective interdisciplinary partners to develop works dealing with some aspect of how the role of water will be changing in the future. At the 2007 Ars Electronica Festival, artists will stage an Environmental Office responsible for environmental information, monitoring and control.
Hydroformance: A Public Discussion with Performance featuring Bernd Wiemann (Vodafone Group R&D Germany), Gerfried Stocker (Ars Electronica), Gabriella Giannachi (Centre for Intermedia, University of Exeter), Ludwig Braun (Commission for Glaciology, Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities), Söke Dinkla (artistic director of RUHR.2010 European Capital of Culture in Duisburg, Germany), Serafine Lindemann (artcircolo) and artists Kalle Laar, Rúrí, Silver & Hanne Rivrud et al.
