The Ars Electronica Animation Festival is one of the mainstays of the Ars Electronica Festival. The accent is on diversity with respect to both content and style here. The programming delivers impressive testimony to how quickly (computer) animation is growing and how strongly it influences our everyday life.

This lineup is a double-feature. CENTRAL, a former first-run cinema on Landstraße in downtown Linz, will be screening works of animation submitted for prize consideration to the 2016 Prix Ars Electronica, the prize for creativity and pioneering spirit in digital media arts. Among the jury’s favorites are “Rhizome,” a extraordinarily detailed work by Boris Labbé, the impressive animation by Nosaj Thing accompanying a music video entitled “Cold Stares,” and David Coquard Dassault’s surprising scenery in a deserted high-rise. And Expanded Animation, a series of workshops, seminars and speeches, will once again offer plenty of possibilities to go deeper into the art of animation.

Prix Forum I – Computer Animation/Film/VFX

The Computer Animation / Film / VFX Prix Forum will deal with developments in the animation field. With Gerfried Stocker (AT), Boris Labbé (FR), Yuya Hanai (JP), Mari-Liis Rebane (EE) and Johannes Schiehsl (AT).
