2007 | global village

Anyone who had the habit to spend his/her holiday traveling abroad, has found out that the nearby village in the countryside is a wonderful place to spend some free time. It isn’t that cheap but it’s nice, sane and safe.

2007 | "I wanted to print the book of the Internet"

The 19-year old malaysian hacker that created the worldwide spread "Gutenberg virus" was arrested by local authorities last night. The virus infected millions of computers, forcing the operating system to continuosly print random webpages. Some sources estimate more than 250 million pages have been printed in the first three days since the virus began infecting computers. The young programmer told the police he "wanted to print the book of the Internet"

2007 | Transfer Complete

By then, all the repressions experienced in the former Soviet Union will have been transferred to the U.S. including travel restrictions (within the U.S.), 'watchers' everywhere, and complete dossiers on everyone available to the powers that be.

2007 | UN adopts the "Ten Commandments of Cyberspace"

The United Nations officially adopts the famous "10 Commandments of Cyberspace" which have circulated widely over the past year. The "10C" emerged as the first clear and simple rules of etiquette for email, web postings, advertising, and blogging, so much so that organization by organization, and country by country, everyone agreed to observe them. Though many lay claim, their origins have never been verified, and it's generally accepted that their author(s) wishes to remain anonymous. The most popular rumors are that they come from a child in the mountains of Tibet, a rebel group in the Ural Mountains, or a neo-primitive hippie commune in near Macchu Picchu. Since most all of rumors involve mountains, and a mysterious author, the name "Ten Commandments" has stuck.

2007 | First verified human clone

After a series of unverifiable and probably false claims, the first cloned human child will be revealed. DNA sequence matching will verify that the child is indeed a genetic replica. The original genetic material will be found to have been taken from an 11-year old boy from a wealthy Chinese family in Canada, who was tragically lost in a drunk driving accident in 2006. Sadly, the cloned infant will be diagnosed with a rare gene defect with symptoms resembling MS.

2007 | Iraq a Bastion of Hope

The Iraqi Interim gov't held elections in '05, bringing it's own brand of constitutional republicanism to the Middle East. Iraq influences reform movements in Iran, Syria, and Saudia Arabia. Terrorist groups begin to lose their followings.

2007 | New Hybrid Online Grocery Shopping Becomes Popular

Although pure electric cars never became popular, the hybrids did.

Like electric cars, online grocery shops didn't do well with many going out of business during the dot-com bust of 2000.

But like hybrid cars, hybrid online grocery stores do become successful, and by 2007, 20% of people do some shopping at these stores.

In the new hybrid online grocery stores, you place your order online and then pick up the order at the store's drive-thru. Unlike the traditional online grocery store, there's no costly delivery.

The online ordering and drive-thru make it much quicker and more convenient for the shopper especially for picking up items like milk. Also, it allows the stores to have a much lower overhead. They don't need cash registers or cashiers (all orders are taken online). The stores can operate at a much higher volume in much smaller buildings and parking lots since customers don't go into the store, but merely pick their online orders up from the drive-thru.
