2009 | Half-Life 3

2009 | Marxism makes a comeback in Europe

A European generation too young to remember the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union embraces Marxism and romanticizes communism. This in response to growing economic stress in Europe, as well as continued anti-American sentiment. The trend will start among the fashionable trend-setters, but will spread quickly among all classes.

2009 | Memory Chips: The New Reality TV

By 2006, viewers will be so bored by Reality TV (they will have gotten more and more extreme, culminating in snuff) that the suffering cable networks will need to come up with a new plan. Working with the military, they will gather a group of diverse and willing volunteers to go to a deserted army base “somewhere in the free world” where a series of psychological experiments will be performed, including the implanting of a "Memory Chip" designed to scramble "real" and "fake" memories. Viewers will be so engrossed by the psychotic episodes of their favorite stars that they will eagerly run out to purchase the memory chips for themselves. Thereafter, the Global Oil Police (GOP) will have no trouble convincing people about the necessity of world-wide dominion.

2009 | RFID starts to cause mass unemployment

The RFID chip makes it's final breakthtough in 2009, and most retailers around the world cut over half of their jobs.

This leaves millions unemployed, as retail outlets no longer need clerks at the cash register, as the RFID-enabled products replace barcodes with radio transmitters and render cash registers obsolete.

The social divide widens, as wealth is concentrated at an accelerating pace into the hands of the select few.

2009 | Popularity of Physical Video Games (PVGs) Reducing Childhood Obesity

The rise of Phyical Video Games (PVGs) has dramatically reduced childhood obesity. These new PVGs require the players to perform physical activity such as pedaling while they play the video game. Certain games reward players extra for the most pedaling. Other games just require pedaling to keep the game going.

World-wide competitions take place on the web where video gamers/atheletes compete in virtual race tracks. The games require both physical endurance and video game skill to make it through the virtual course. These competitions and their support by famous atheletes have helped to make PVGs a hit with kids in the last year.

Parents are pleased to see the connection of physical activity with video games. Doctors credit this fad to a significant reduction in childhood obesity and diabetes.
