Internet Yami-Ichi
Sign up for the “Internet Black Market” on SAT September 5, 2015 at the PostCity, Linz! Limited number of participants!
The Japanese artist-collective and self-appointed secret society IDPW will host the so called Internet Yami-Ichi (or in English: Internet Black Market) on SAT September 5, 2015, at the PostCity during the Ars Electronica Festival 2015 in Linz. The Internet Yami-Ichi (Black Market) is a one day flea market which deals “Internet-ish” things, face-to-face, in actual space. Both flea markets and the Internet are fanatical and chaotic mixes of the amazing and useless.
In the Internet Yami-Ichi both the wills and desires which brought us to create the Internet, and the wills and desires we picked up once we got there, are salvaged to be shared in a social space. The Internet Yami-Ichi is a celebration, where together we experience the afterglow, off line, as the “buzz” of the Internet wears off. After bringing the market to Tokyo, Berlin, Brussels and Amsterdam, Linz will be the next station for this punk-capitalist intervention.
Who are we looking for?
IDPW is looking for 50 artists, programmers, researchers and other internet freaks who would be interested in participating in the “Internet Black Market”. For each participant we will provide a table, a 230v power outlet, wifi, a free festival pass and most importantly the framework of a weird internet market. Anyone can participate as long as they offer goods and/or services that are somehow related to the internet! You could sell meme-cookies, 3D data of your favorite rocks, open a real-live YouTube-stage, or do whatever you want (as long as it’s legal).
Extended Deadline: August 31, 2015!
