Flashlightinstallation #1 is an installation space equipped with a three-dimensional matrix of 64 electronic flash units from disposable cameras. It’s meant to explore the flash unit as an artistic medium. Whoever enters the space activates the individual flash units and thus triggers what seems to be repeated random choreographies. The noise the capacitors make while the units are charging—steadily higher-pitched and softer—and the popping sound that each one makes when a flash is triggered are integral elements of the overall experience.
