In the Brucknerhaus, Bildrecht and Ars Electronica present Michael Kos’ Mappings in which the artist takes conventional ways of viewing cartographic works and city maps and turns them on their head. When borderlines and elevation contour markings and the courses of streets and rivers are deprived of their functions, new horizons open up. As “painting without brushes” by means of intentional information disruption and a simple random principle, Kos’ works make us cognizant of the relativity of conceptions of space and time-based perceptions.
