In 2015 the Austrian Motorist and Touring Club ÖAMTC approached the University of Art and Design Linz, asking students and teaching staff members to reflect on how mobility will change in the future.

In a joint project students from the scionic. Department of Industrial Design and Interface Cultures envisioned future scenarios for car breakdown services in 2050. These were presented within the context of visions which the students elaborated for future smart cities and networked rural areas, including novel types of infrastructures, distributed networks and services, self-driving vehicles, renewable energy sources, new forms of vehicle ownership as well as personalized and customizable support solutions.
