GameSpace turns the Ars Electronica Center’s Deep Space 8K into an interactive multiplayer gaming arena. Utilizing the room’s laser tracking system, players can directly control their virtual avatars projected onto the wall and floor. A series of game prototypes developed by students at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences’ Hagenberg Campus serves as a means to explore the merging of virtual and physical gameplay. The Game Changer Suite features cooperative and competitive games that solely rely on players’ positions in the room, while LazorLab integrates mobile devices into the space as personal gaming interfaces.
